Year 7 academic extension students at Halls Head College have showcased their learnings on ancient Rome in not such an ancient way.
Students embraced the virtual reality study practice and have shown off their findings at a state-wide Resources Technology Showcase.
The Halls Head students presented their innovation alongside other schools and key members of the resources sector.
As part of their studies, students investigated and researched Ancient Rome, creating artifacts which they then captured images of using 360 degree photography.
Completely engaged in their learning experience - students then moved on to sequencing, editing, programming, and creating voice-overs.
HASS teacher Hayden Brown said the images were then loaded onto a cutting-edge VR editing platform to create an experience that could be shared with others.
"Our students were the creators and developers of this project, which is so much more powerful when learning," he said.
Halls Head College students were able to create an Ancient Rome VR Gallery Exhibition which embraced a new modern way of project presentations.
The Virtual Reality program will be expanded and built upon, with students showcasing further work at the end of the year at the 'IT takes a Spark' STEAM conference.
Halls Head College Principal Bronwyn White said that cutting edge technologies and unique industry, tertiary and global partnerships are a part of its strategy to build authentic and engaging learning opportunities that prepare students success beyond school.
STEM is an embedded part within the curriculum and where we can combine this with real world partnerships both the relevance and value of the learning is magnified.
