Two Sydney men has been arrested after police discovered four tonnes of illegal tobacco worth $5 million in the city's west.
Police raided a storage facility in Glendenning on Tuesday evening, discovering vacuum sealed bags of shredded tobacco leaf stashed inside what appeared to be industrial compressors.
Two men, aged 28 and 30, were arrested at the facility and taken to Mt Druitt Police Station.
After executing more search warrants at the complex, a total of 4.1 tonnes of tobacco, with an estimated potential street value of $5 million, was seized.
The pair were charged with possessing tobacco of 500 kilograms or above and refused bail to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court on Wednesday.
