Skye Merchant is a 15-year-old Mandurah Catholic College student who has never before had a haircut.
Her blonde locks are almost floor-length, reminiscent of Disney's princess Rapunzel.
When Skye came home from school last Thursday, she told her mother Michelle that she planned to have her first haircut - and it would be for an important cause.
"Skye came home on Thursday and told me of her plans to have her first ever haircut this Friday at school, COVID pending of course," Michelle said.
"She told me she wanted to raise as much money as possible for teachers and staff who are battling with cancer."
Skye started a GoFundMe page titled 'Rapunzel's haircut for cancer', and has a goal to raise $2,000 this week.
Skye's hair is currently 1.5m long (5ft), and she said the hair will also be going towards changing the life of a cancer patient.
"Once my hair has been cut, all money raised will be donated to the staff affected and the hair will be donated to make a wig for a cancer patient in need," Skye said.
