Brooke Blurton, a proud Noongar-Yamatji woman and youth worker, who was launched into fame after appearing on Nick 'Honeybadger' Cummins' 2018 season of The Bachelor, has been announced as the next Australian Bachelorette.
Not only will Ms Blurton, who hails from Perth, be the first Indigenous Australian bachelorette, she will also be the first openly pansexual bachelorette - and her season will be mixed gender.
Network10 advertised for women and men between the ages of 23-35 to apply for the season for the first time ever, making Ms Blurton a trailblazer for change on Australian television.
In her Instagram announcement, she said "I'm ready, I hope you are too."
Ms Blurton is a passionate advocate for both Indigenous communities and the LGBTIQ+ community, and her LinkedIn profile states "I use my platform as a way to connect young people and wider Australia to educate them on important issues such as mental health, suicide prevention, Aboriginal representation, cultural inclusivity and LGBTIQ+ representation."
