'Cheap and Dodgy Productions' infamous Christmas Show has been able to offer a helping hand to some of Mandurah's most vulnerable.
Mandurah MLA David Templeman and renowned local theatre director Carole Dhu are well-known for their annual Christmas Show at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre.
The local theatre duo raise money, through the show, for scholarships which they provide for eligible local young people who are embarking on a career in the Performing Arts.
Indeed, several dozen young people from the region have been supported through these scholarships over the past 10 years.
Many of them are supported through their studies at the Western Australian Academy of the Performing Arts (WAAPA).
This year, Mr Templeman and Ms Dhu have again decided to allocate some of the proceeds from their annual show to an important local cause, Peel Foodbank.
"Carole and I decided again this year that we needed to support Peel Foodbank, because it provides such an important service to local people who need support. We were also keen to show that the Arts supports so many causes across our community," Mr Templeman said.
Ms Dhu and Mr Templeman presented $1000 worth of food to a grateful Peel Foodbank this week, helping to support their service and boost their supplies.
"Peel Foodbank's branch manager Megan and the magnificent volunteer team do an incredible job and David and I are so pleased we could help," Ms Dhu said.
Mr Templeman and Ms Dhu also thanked their loyal performers and patrons of the annual Cheap and Dodgy show and highlighted that their support was now providing food to Peel Foodbank.
If you would like to donate to Mandurah Foodbank you can call 9581 9200 or drop off non-perishable to Mr Templeman's office at 2/4 Sutton Street, Mandurah.
