Smoke from prescribed burns are impacting areas from Jurien Bay down to Busselton as Parks and Wildlife Service issue a warning.
The smoke is the result of a combination of prescribed burns being carried out today by the Parks and Wildlife Service and smaller private property burns.
The department is continuing to monitor the situation with assistance from the Bureau of Meteorology.
The current advice is some level of smoke haze may continue to be present throughout the rest of the day and overnight until increased winds and rainful forecast for later tomorrow assist in dispersing the smoke.
WHAT TO DO:
- If the smoke is particularly thick, it is recommended people shut doors and windows and turn off air-conditioners.
- Smoke may reduce visibility on some roads and motorists should take care, turn on headlights and travel at appropriate speeds when travelling in these areas.
- People with asthma and pre-existing respiratory or cardiovascular illnesses should follow their pre-prepared treatment plan.
- People with conditions exacerbated by smoke should take precautions in line with their medical advice for these circumstances.
