Competition is offered in 15 divisions based on age and handicap, guaranteeing golfers will play alongside other golfers of a similar age and standard. Golfers will compete for a record $50,000 in prizes and lucky draws. Fostering fun and friendship, the event boasts nightly social events with live entertainment, headlined by a welcome reception and gala presentation dinner. Renowned comedian Paul Martell, dance bands and other artists will entertain throughout the week.
Australian golf travel company, Go Golfing Travel, will host the Mandurah Masters. Go Golfing has a track record of hosting Masters Golf events throughout Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and Vietnam. Their popular Gold Coast World Masters has been running for 26 years and regularly attracts upwards of 800 golfers while their Centara World Masters event in Thailand has worldwide appeal with golfers from 31 countries participating.
Tournament director Mark Hawley said he was excited by what Mandurah offers up for visiting golfers.
"Mandurah offers everything golfers want and more," Mr Hawley said.
"There's no shortage of top-ranking golf resorts, built by world-class designers, that offer up different golfing experiences in diverse settings. Coupled with Mandurah's seaside location, accommodation choices to suit all budgets, vibrant restaurant and hospitality precincts plus a plethora of tourism experiences and activities made it a natural selection. We're confident golfers will love what Mandurah delivers and have committed to hosting the Mandurah Masters long-term," he said.
Supported by the City of Mandurah and Tourism WA, the Mandurah Masters is the centrepiece of a major golf tourism promotion to attract big spending golf tourists to the state. Golf tourists spend an average of $290 per day which is 30 percent more than what the average tourist spends. In addition to the Mandurah Masters, Go Golfing has secured more tournaments for Mandurah as well as a series of hosted golf tours and promotion of year round golf holiday packages to the state's golf and tourism hotspots.
Mayor Rhys Williams said he was excited to showcase what Mandurah had to offer visiting golfers and partners. "We're looking forward to giving a warm welcome to all players, organisers and spectators from across Australia for the Mandurah Masters Golf Championships," he said.
"Mandurah is perfectly positioned to host this great event. Not only will visitors be able to compete at our amazing local golf courses, but hopefully take the chance to enjoy our beautiful waterways, great local businesses and restaurants, and a huge range of tourism opportunities while they are here.
"We wish the best of luck to everyone involved, and we're excited for you to discover what a special place we have here in Mandurah."
The Mandurah Masters will be among the first events in Western Australia to attract interstate visitors since border restrictions have eased. The event will be a welcome boon for tourism with visitors forecast to spend more than $1.2 million across the week in Mandurah. Two thirds of the interstate visitors are extending their stay in WA by three or more nights so this event is a great win for Mandurah and the whole state.
The all-inclusive tournament package is $1,049 and members of golf clubs will save $100 if booking before 15 March. You'll need to be quick as only 45 spots remain. For more information visit www.GoGolfing.net.au/MandurahMasters
