Riptide Youth Performance Company are back with a new opportunity for young people in the Peel region after the pandemic put a halt to a Sydney and regional WA tour.
In 2019, Riptide received funding to empower four young writers to write their first play, and four young directors to bring these plays to life, in the majorly successful Tide Tales.
The company are pleased to be bringing this back with Tide Tales 2.0, releasing three new plays developed by ensemble members over the course of 2019 with 24 roles up for grabs.
The three works each are vastly different in content, and all have something unique to bring to the table.
Eclipse, written by Jesskia Gooch and directed by Teaghan Lowry, explores the classic love story between the sun and moon, a love that transcends so much, but where does the earth fit into the equation?
Potluck At Nine written by Emily Burton, and directed by brother George Burton, a contemporary cross-section into the past and present lives of nine personality types, and what happens when they reflect on why they are the way they are.
The Last News Show On Earth written by Tristen Patemen and directed by Courtney Brown, is a hilarious, lightning speed, anti-capitalist, post-media comedy thriller of one news girl's journey on the way to being woke and making changes for good.
Auditions are open to young artists in the Peel Region so all those interested in contemporary theatre can get involved.
Riptide artistic director Ruby Liddelow encouraged anyone within the age range to apply.
"This is a great opportunity for any young creatives in the Peel Region to sink their teeth into some contemporary, fresh new works," she said.
"It's an excellent project for anyone who has just left school looking to get into some theatre, or even those still in school, looking for something further than what the curriculum has to offer."
