Peel Aquatic Club and Mandurah Swimming Club have both taken top three rankings in the long weekend's country pennants A-grade competition in Mt Barker - with Peel Aquatic Club taking out first place.
Club president Darren Michael told the Mail swimming was a tough sport, and the swimmers had exhibited commitment and dedication in the lead up to the meet.
"These kids are aged from 13-17 and are swimming 50kms a week along with gym sessions and yoga," he said.
The club won the relay shield with 14 gold, three silver, and three bronze awards out of 20 relays.
Club members took out a number of impressive wins.
Sean Alcorn took out closes to State Record for 100m, Finley Larmour took out closes to State Record for 50m (his own record), and Megan Larmour broke the WA Country Open 50m Breaststroke record (breaking her own record).
The club had 82 individual swims and 36 swimmers, resulting in 45 gold, 16 silver and eight bronze awards.
"84 per cent of our swimmers finished in the top three and 55 per cent finished first," Mr Michael said.
Mandurah Swimming Club came in at third place in the A-Grade with a number of wins and an impressive 25 personal best results from their 24 swimmers.
A number of their swimmers ranked in the top six swimmers in their meet for their respective strokes.
Mandurah Swimming Club president Graham Shackles said the team acquired a number of personal achievements in the form of personal bests or medals.
"In most cases, both," he said.
The team finished in a strong third-place in the A-Grade category.
Peel Aquatic Club and Mandurah Swimming Club showcased the talent of Mandurah and Peel swimmers, taking home an impressive list of A-Grade results across the board.
