When COVID-19 first hit WA, many made the abrupt shift to working from home or lost their job.
This shift changed the way we did our jobs forever as the pandemic normalised remote work and introduced a hybrid way of working for many.
With 47 commercial properties currently listed for sale in the Peel region, many offices are also now making the permanent move to work from home.
Make Place community manager Megan Humble said she had seen a major change in work habits due to COVID-19.
"I'm finding a lot of big businesses and government are looking at how they can have their workers more productively now because they've noticed it's possible not to work from an office," she said.
"Business owners don't want to commit to long term leases anymore because it is so uncertain they are thinking how we can work so we don't have to have an office.
"This is possible because of new innovation and technology that has come out through COVID-19 - a lot of people are working with their team virtually."
Despite working from home having its benefits it also saw a lot of people struggle mentally.
To combat this feeling of isolation, co-working spaces offered a chance for social interaction.
Before the current lockdown, Ms Humble said she began to see an uptake in people joining co-working spaces such as Make Place and Spacecubed.
"Being at home after a period of time is hard on your mental health and quite isolating," she said.
"It had gotten to the point where people had been home too long so co-working and flexible spaces have become more appealing.
"I think co-working spaces were always going to become popular but COVID-19 has made it happen much quicker."

People who used to work in an office were not the only ones joining co-working spaces as many took COVID-19 as an opportunity to follow their passions.
"I've noticed that a lot of people I spoke to had a massive life change - they're going into a direction like a new job or starting a business," Ms Humble said.
"COVID-19 was a massive shake up and it just got people thinking differently and they want to follow more of a passion.
"They've found their place at co-working spaces like Make Place and joined a community who have similar interests."
