I hope the The City of Mandurah puts a little more thought into where its common ground housing is located. The site for the East Perth complex is in the CBD, straight across the road from a park they are planning to spend millions on to attract families and tourists.
I think that Perth council is making a mistake that will cost the city more in the long run.
Homeless people generally do not work. What better place to hang out during the day than in an upgraded park right across the road? Before you know it, the churches will be feeding the homeless in the park, as they do in Northbridge, and hey presto, it's the place to be for the homeless.

Summer abundance
What a brilliant summer we are having. The estuary is full of fish and crabs all migrating in from the ocean. The beautiful Red-tailed black cockatoos have arrived along with other interesting and colourful parrots, here to feast on our fruiting trees. Mandurah has a diverse and thriving ecosystem that weaves its way through our urban areas. We are blessed to live in such an idyllic climate and environment. Through intelligent design and maintenance, we should strive to enhance our natural ecosystems, despite our growing population and increasing urban pressure.

Alternative politics
In Australia the Black Summer bushfires, extreme erosion of beaches, crippling drought, and bleaching of the Great Barrier Reef are visible signs of climate change.
Australia's average temperature has already risen by ~1.44C. By 2100 credible climate models predict it could increase 7C if our emissions rise unabated. To stay below 2C of global heating we must think big and act now, or many of us will live to see an unrecognisable Australia.
Both the Labor and Liberal parties proudly say they are listening to the science in responding to COVID-19, but they are resolutely ignoring the science regarding climate change. WA is the only state without net zero emissions and renewable energy targets. What we need is a plan for net zero emissions; net zero climate ambition is what we have instead.
If the major parties will not embrace alternative energy, we must embrace alternative politics.
