Some of Australia's best wakeboarders, motocross riders, skateboarders and BMX stars will hit Mandurah this year, with the city set to host the 2021 Action Sports Games.
Presented by Drug Aware, the action-packed event will attract stars from all of those sports to compete for a whopping $20,000 in cash and prizes.
Flashback:
The wakeboarding competition will be held on Mandjar Bay on the Mandurah foreshore, and many world-class wakeboarders have already indicated that they are keen to compete across a weekend in April.
Action Sports Games events director Tim Thirsk said he was thrilled to see the event being held in the Peel region.
"We are very fortunate to have access to funding through the Tourism WA Regional Events Scheme, Drug Aware through Healthway and the City of Mandurah to keep this awesome event on track," he said.
"I am really happy that we'll be back on the western foreshore as it is the perfect location, in fact one of the best locations for the Action Sports Games."
Pristine waterways and a brand new skate park make Mandurah the ideal destination for the event.
Day one of competition will see that new skate park playing host to a major skateboard, BMX and scooter competition with over 120 entrants from all over WA giving their all to share in more than $5000 worth of prize money.
On the Sunday, Mandjar Bay will come alive with the freestyle motocross exhibition and national wakeboarding tournament.
The Summer Food Truck Festival will provide plenty of locally prepared meals for the event, while DJs offer entertainment.
City of Mandurah mayor Rhys Williams said it was an exciting coup for the city to host the games.
"We're really looking forward to hosting the Action Sports Games back in Mandurah this year, in a COVID-safe way, as it's been a popular and exciting highlight of our events calendar in previous years," he said.
The major event is set to become one of the richest wakeboarding events in Australia and will attract a large crowd to the foreshore.
It will be free of charge to attend.
