Bushfire warning issued for Baldivis

A bushfire is causing threats to lives and homes in Baldivis.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) issued an emergency warning alert after a car fire ignited the blaze near the intersection of Karnup Road and Kwinana Freeway.

It was first reported at about 3.40pm.

Fifty firefighters are on the scene to battle the blaze, which is moving fast in a north easterly direction.

Aerial support has been sent in to assist ground crews.

The authorities are also urging road users to avoid the area and be wary of personnel vehicles working to put out the fire.

A number of roads have been closed including Kwinana Freeway southbound between Safety Bay Road and Karnup Road.
