Pinjarra Bakery, winner of last year's meat pie category at the Official Great Aussie Pie Competition, is vying to retain the title this year.
The 31st edition of the original contest to find the greatest pie in the country will this year take place in Sydney in November, with the event to be livestreamed so food fans around the country can watch the tasty action.
"We're absolutely committed to trying to retain the title of the country's greatest meat pie," head pastry chef Paul Pantaleo said.
"After winning the title at the Official Great Aussie Pie Competition last year, we immediately started planning on how to come back bigger and better in 2020.
"Like everyone, COVID has certainly changed things for us in a lot of ways, but one thing that hasn't changed is our passion for baking.
"Winning the competition last year really put us on the map and we've seen pie lovers from around the country make the trip to try our award winning baked goods.
"We're determined to keep that tradition going, so when people can travel again, they'll know where to come for the tastiest pie they've ever had."
Entries are now open with all keen bakers encouraged to apply.
The competition includes a new and fittingly festive category for the country's most delicious Christmas Mince Pie.
The 2020 competition will see hundreds of pies couriered in from bakers around the country, and is perfectly timed for Aussies to know where to buy the best pie and sausage roll there is this summer and festive season.
Since its inception more than three decades ago, the Official Great Aussie Pie Competition has brought the baking industry together and seen winners sell out of products and experience levels of demand that keeps them working overtime for months.
Even the health and safety restrictions that are synonymous with 2020 events haven't dampened the spirits of contestants, with registrations already coming in from some of the most remote bakeries around the country.
