The closure of Hog's Breath Cafe last month was met with dismay and confusion from the Mandurah community, with many voicing their disappointment.
But for three local residents it gave them the perfect opportunity to open a steakhouse they had always dreamed about.
Buying the property from the previous owner, Josh Dcruz, Anuj Agarwal, and Anton Novoselskii are now set to open the Mandurah Steakhouse this Saturday.
Mr Dcruz, who was the Hog's Breath manager, said the three of them have shared a dream of owning a restaurant for almost two years.
"When Hog's was still open we had a food truck and our chefs that worked on there would trial a few different meals," he said.
"The whole process of going to food truck events started about two years ago - food truck events are what inspired us and we thought there is so much more that we can do than be restricted to one menu.
"When Hog's Breath stepped out we wanted to actually jump in and do stuff on our own already so it was a good opportunity."
Since changing owners, the venue has had a make over with new lights, wallpaper, and decor.
"We've changed the wallpaper, the signs, and we've used paintings of Mandurah to capture a few places in and around the area," Mr Dcruz said.
"We have lights that can be dimmed now and a new music system.
"We want the atmosphere to be a bit lively."

According to a Mandurah Steakhouse spokesperson, the menu includes options for everyone including vegan and vegetarian meals.
The team are also working on making a separate vegan menu in the near future.

Now gearing up for the grand opening, Mr Dcruz said they had already been swamped with community support.
"We've done a bit of a reveal of the place on Facebook and everyone looks keen," he said.
"We've got about 700 followers on Facebook and they're excited about the new menu.
"We feel a bit excited and nervous at the same time about opening up - we are hoping people love the new Mandurah Steakhouse."
