The Peel Aquatic Club shone at the Swimming WA State Short Course Championships last month, taking home the WA regional shield as the best-performing non-metropolitan club.
Their team of 32 swimmers put in some outstanding individual efforts on their way to finishing the championships in seventh overall, hauling in a string of medals for their troubles.
After three days of hard racing Peel's junior squad posted personal bests in 79 per cent of their races, while the senior team went at a 70 per cent clip.
Cody Zambon enjoyed a fruitful campaign securing bronze in the 400m, 800m and 1500m freestyle, plus the 200m butterfly.
He then went on to take out gold in the 400m individual medley.
Caitlin Leather kicked off her medal collection with bronze in the 200m backstroke, silver in the 100m and 200m butterfly and 200 individual medley and finally gold in the 400m individual medley.
Oliver Brèhaut took out bronze in the 100m freestyle and team mate Mackenzi Logan picked up bronze in both the 16 girls 50m and ladies open 50m freestyle.
Mackenzi also broke the 1 minute barrier to take out bronze in the 100m freestyle.
Onto the breast stroke events and Summer Houston had impressive swims to win bronze in the 200m and silver in the 100m event.
Calia Vlastuin secured bronze in the 100m and silver in the 200m breast stroke.
Finlay Larmour continued the club success in breaststroke events winning both the 100 and 200m events. The 16-year-old also secured bronze in the men's open 50m breaststroke event.
These performances resulted in an impressive haul of medals with an individual tally of five gold, five silver and 11 bronze taken home by the proud swimmers.
In addition the senior boys relay teams (Brèhaut, Gallagher, Larmour and Zambon) were able to secure the bronze medal in both the freestyle and medley relay events against some very strong metropolitan clubs.
Peel Aquatic Club is actively looking to increase its membership and will be running a free swim clinic and registration day at Mandurah Recreation and Aquatic Centre on Thursday, October 8 at 2.30pm.
