The Peel Cavaliers capped off an undefeated run with a grand final victory as they claimed the 2020 Netball WA Association Championships division one crown over the weekend.
A sublime showing through the first five rounds of the championships saw Peel head into Sunday's finals games with an unblemished record - one they were able to keep intact all the way through to their grand final against the Goldfields Monday.
Their Kalgoorlie-based counterparts battled hard across the course of the game, but Peel was able to hold steady and end the match ahead 27-14.
The victory marks a significant improvement for the Peel Football and Netball League representative side, who have gone from division two finalists to division one winners in the space of a year.
Coach Anne Bowey said she was rapt for the side.
"They're a great bunch of girls," she said.
"They all get on so well, and that's really important in these sorts of tournaments.
"To see their hard work pay off with a win is really nice."
The team was largely made up of Peel's Metro League players, who had their season at the start of the year cut short due to COVID-19.
All would usually represent a team within the PFNL's netball season, but that too was cancelled amid the pandemic.
Coach Bowey said it was a thrill to see them competing in the sport they love once again.
"They all love their netball and it was really disappointing they didn't get to play as much of it this year," she said.
"So just for them to be able to play competitively across the weekend, it was awesome."
