A Mandurah woman has been left with a serious head injury after she was assaulted by a man wielding a socket extender tool in Greenfields on Tuesday.
The 45-year-old victim was driving her white Ford Falcon at about 7pm.
As she turned on Mississippi Drive, opposite Bortolo Park, a man ran up to her car and threw the tool through the window, striking the woman in the head.
The woman drove a short distance to a nearby acquaintances home before attending Peel Health Campus where she received 18 staples in her head.
The attacker is described as dark skinned, in his 20s, 170cm tall with a stocky build, black hooded jumper and black shorts.
Detectives would like anyone to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or saw any suspicious activity in Bortolo Park around the time of this incident.
