The Peel region is one of many natural wonders, capable people, cooperative structures and future opportunities.
With significant government and private sector investment in initiatives such as industrial land, road infrastructure and tourism development we are well placed to drive economic activity into the future.
To realise the full benefit of these opportunities the community and its leaders need to be ready and willing to harness the aspirations and energy of business, government and communities (trisector) to work together for Peel's common future.
Peel u.Lab Hub 2020 leverages off a free global online learning platform to provide an opportunity for regional leaders and change-makers to progress regional initiatives through practical skills development.
U.lab is a global online learning platform that provides professional learning in tools and social change processes aimed to catalyse societal renewal.
Today's challenges call for profound innovation across all societal sectors.
Rethinking, reinventing and evolving the way we operate in our society requires a profound shift in how we think, engage and act (intelligence of the head, heart, and hand).
The u.lab: Leading from the Emerging Future course is a free online course delivered by the Presencing Institute through the edX learning platform.
It provides an introduction to Theory U, a framework and methodology that individuals, teams, organisations, and even larger social systems can use to respond to disruptive change with compassion, curiosity and courage.
It is designed for anyone who wants to see, be and effect change and wants to work together towards this goal by:
- learning about Theory U;
- joining a global community of change-makers;
- addressing today's challenges in an integrated way;
- developing and implementing practical solutions to the challenges we are dealing with.
Over a 14 week period starting in this month, participants will engage in self-paced online learning with modules released every two weeks.
Towards the end of the release period for each module a two hour face to face Hub session will be convened in Mandurah to discuss learnings and apply them with others undertaking the learning.
There is no monetary cost in participating; and the time commitment is around 2 to 4 hours per week to undertake the learning through the u.lab and two hours every two to three weeks to participate in the Hub.
There will be an introductory hub meeting this Thursday, September 8 at 4pm and then the Hub will convene fortnightly in Mandurah on the following dates:
