Dads in the Peel region are being encouraged to connect with their children through the Dads and Kids Adventures initiative.
Run by Connecting Community for Kids in conjunction with the Fathering Project, the free events see dads and their young ones enjoying a day out across the Mandurah and Kwinana areas.
The most recent event was a walk through Black Swan Lake led by local George Walley from Mandjoogoordap Dreaming, who joined the group to share his cultural knowledge of the kaaleepga, or local heartland.
The events aim to inspire fathers and father figures to play a more active role in their children's lives.
"The impact that a nurturing, supportive and engaged father or father figure can have on a child's life is profound" The Fathering Project's Kyle Drew said.
"More effective fathers and father figures means a generation of kids with happier, healthier futures and can play a huge part in their child's mental well-being."
These events also support men to be physically and mentally active and provide an opportunity to connect with other dads and chat about their parenting journey in a relaxed environment.
The next adventure is a tree planting event on Saturday, August 22 in Wells Park, Kwinana.
