Mandurah and Pinjarra families joined in a weekend of celebration as the former Peel Zoo was rebranded with a new name - Ranger Red Zoo and Conservation Park.

"I hope that we can be a place of conservation and education and not just in the way of animals but also the habitat and the environment and the intricacies that go with it," he said.
The zoo closed its doors to visitors at the end of March in a bid to stop the spread of COVID-19 but its adoption programs were revamped in that time to help keep the zoo afloat.
The zoo team spent the lockdown period revamping and improving the facility.

Co-owner Peter Mascaro in a statement encouraged people to continue to support the zoo.
"We look forward to many more years of enjoying the smiles and laughter of the children and families that visit our zoo," Mr Mascaro said.
"We hope to provide to you a new, revitalized zoo, filled with new exhibits and facilities that will enhance your experience, help educate your children and bring families together in a fun and exciting environment."
