A newly created Mandurah Youth Advisory Group will give Mandurah's young people an even stronger voice on local projects and issues.
Mayor Rhys Williams said the group would provide important information, feedback and ideas to council from a youth perspective.
"Mandurah's young people are such an important part of our community and are the future of this place," he said.
"The input of our local youth on recent key projects such as the design of the Western Foreshore and Falcon skateparks has been a vital part in the ongoing success of these exciting projects.
"Council highly values the input of our local young people and this passionate and dedicated team of future leaders is an important part in making sure their voices are heard."
Mayor Williams congratulated the inaugural members of the Youth Advisory Group who represent different cultural backgrounds, gender, education and locations in Mandurah.
The members include Breanna Humphreys, Ella Stephenson, Indiana Devlin, Joshoa Zilani, Joshua Peckover, Kyeesha Bonney, Lauren Bailey, Lilijana Nicholls, Mark Ajero, Olivia Kittila-Howard, Sheridan Cocks, Wilder Rowe and Xanthe Turner.
"These community ambassadors have stepped forward to speak up about what is important to the young people in our city. They will help Council to identify local challenges young people are facing, and will also encourage young people to address challenges relevant to them," Mr Williams said.
"Importantly, this is also a great opportunity for the group members to develop leadership, confidence and organisational life skills, while making a meaningful difference in the community."
