The state government have simplified the way emergency service volunteers receive the annual fuel card.
The system will mean the fuel card will be automatically re-issued in August to everyone that previously held one.
The $1000 fuel card is a gift from the state government as a way to recognise the contribution of volunteers.
Emergency Services minister Fran Logan said it was just one way to say thank you to volunteers.
"Volunteers often tell me they do not serve their community for monetary rewards, so the card is not intended to cover all costs, but rather to provide some assistance where possible," he said.
Those who did not hold a card last year will be contacted by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services over the coming weeks to apply.
More than 840 volunteer firefighting, State Emergency Service, Marine Rescue and St John Ambulance brigades, groups and units will receive the $1,000 fuel card, which is supported by Royalties for Regions.
"I am glad that the Department of Fire and Emergency Services has also helped volunteers out by putting in place this new system of automatically reissuing cards to those that previously held them," Minister Logan said.
Now in its sixth year, the Emergency Services Volunteer Fuel Card Scheme provides some assistance for volunteer travel and transport expenses.
