A hot start helped South Mandurah soar to a telling win over Centrals on Saturday, but coach Kallen Williams has insisted his side still has room for improvement.
The Falcons blasted their way to a 25-point lead at the first term and never really looked back in the 15.14 (104) to 8.8 (56) victory.
Centrals opened their first home game for the season with the day's first goal, but the Falcons slotted the next six to take total control.
Cameron Gavin's good work helped Brody Wemm snare a couple, and they led by 30 points when Michael Stevens snared his first early in the second.
The Blues piled on four of the next six goals with Daniel Cabassi giving effort around the ground, keeping the game within 19 points at half time.
But that scoring prowess eluded them in the second half, with Centrals mustering just three goals across the final two quarters.
Kyle Penny notched two goals to help the Falcons break away in the fourth, while Cody Nelson booted his fourth of the day as they ran away with an eight-goal win.
The victory takes South Mandurah to second on the ladder with a 2-1 record, but despite their hot start to the Dudley Tuckey Cup coach Williams is adamant his boys have plenty to improve upon.
"I was really happy with our game, but I still think we haven't put together a four-quarter effort yet," he said.
"That probably comes down to us being a young team, but on the weekend we let Centrals have a run in the second and sort of dropped our heads for a brief time so we'll look to rectify that."
Williams was full of praise for his young midfield, however, with Zac Moody and Cameron Gavin shining throughout the match while ruckman Blair Della Franca received the game ball.
"Blair gave our midfield silver service all day, and the young guys were really able to feed off that," he said.
"To see them all getting their hands on the footy and controlling the game for long stretches is really pleasing."
South Mandurah now head into a clash with Baldivis in round four.
The Brumbies will be looking to come off the bye with a bang, while the Falcons will be eager to find out more about themselves.
"It's going to be another good test for us to see where we are at," Williams said.
"We've been really promising so far, but if we want to be taken seriously we'll need to compete pretty hard in this one."
South Mandurah hosts Baldivis at Falcon Oval this Sunday, 2.30pm.
