The Peel Football and Netball League Women's season has been given the green light and will kick off this coming weekend.
Six teams will compete across the 10-round season, culminating in a three-week finals campaign where a premier will be crowned.
South Mandurah, Rockingham, Pinjarra, Dwellingup and Baldivis will all return after taking part in the competition last year, while Secret Harbour replaces the outgoing Mandurah to make up the sixth squad in the league.
Pinjarra will be one side eyeing glory when players return to the field, as the Tigers look to win their third consecutive premiership.
Coach Jason Mudge said his side was chomping at the bit to get into their first game.
"It's awesome. The girls are dying to get out there," he said.
"We trained for four and a half months in the pre-season and then just before we were ready to get into it things got canned, so they're really excited to get to play footy again."
The Tigers have made their name as the competition's powerhouse having taken out the first two PFNL Women's premierships, and Mudge said his side was eager to add to their trophy cabinet.
"We want that three-peat," he said.
"That's what was so disappointing for us when things got put on hold. We're chasing something pretty special and not knowing whether footy was coming back or not was a real worry.
"But we're back now and we'll be looking to get off to a good start on Friday night."
One team that will hope to be hot on the Tigers' heels is South Mandurah.
The Falcons have been a pillar of consistency across the first two PFNL Women's campaigns, but have come up agonisingly short to Pinjarra in both grand finals.
They will hoping to go one step further in 2020, with their squad shaping up as a top contender once again.
PFNL general manager Geoff Hiller said it was crucial for the women's season to play out.
"We've gained a lot of momentum with the women's league in its first two years and some of that would have come undone if it didn't go ahead," he said.
"For us it's really pleasing these girls get the chance to play footy this year."
Fan attendance will be a huge boost for the women's competition, with spectators able to freely attend games after the WA government moves into phase four of its COVID-19 restrictions on Saturday.
Under the new guidelines, clubs only need to provide two square metres of space per person.
However, only 100 fans will be permitted to attend Friday night's showdown between Pinjarra and Rockingham, with the game being held some five hours before restrictions are eased.
