Paths, trails, playgrounds, barbeques and viewing decks could be among the new amenities at the Coodanup Foreshore after a draft Masterplan was drawn up to transform the Reserve.
The plan, which was released in May, also includes more areas for recreation and activity, shelters, seats, toilets and a bird hide upgrade.
Local residents and community groups are being invited to have their say on the draft, which will upgrade the land along Peel Parade between Wanjeep Street and John Street.
The plan has been developed after initial consultations with local residents and key stakeholders, including the Peel Harvey Catchment Council and Winjan Aboriginal Corp.
Mandurah mayor Rhys Williams said the project would have a strong environmental focus.
"The Coodanup Foreshore, given its incredible estuary frontage, is worthy of being a really special public space," he said.
"That area is such a rich environmental asset and we want to showcase and highlight that but also preserve and protect it."
Mr Williams said the reserve was already a "valued community asset" with good facilities, activities and local habitat, and he urged residents to speak up about what else they would like to see at the foreshore.
"One of the great things about the way that we developed the waterfront redevelopment project was that members of the community helped to shape it and we want to take the same approach with the Coodanup Foreshore," he said.
"I'm really encouraging the community to have their say and help us to design what this space can look like."
The draft is available for comment by all local residents and community groups until June 23.
An information drop-in session will also be held at the Coodanup Community Hall from 9am-7pm on Friday, June 19 for anyone to view and discuss the draft Masterplan.
After the second round of consultation, a final Masterplan will be developed and presented to council to be endorsed.
