Why stop at S plates when there's a whole alphabet at our disposal?
"If this suggestion is being seriously thought about, then it should go the whole way and hoon drivers should have H plates, bad drivers have B plates, road rage drivers RR plates ... where would it end?" asks Steve from Falcon in WA. "The reason for L and P plates is to show learning or inexperienced drivers; elderly drivers already have the experience (E plates)."
Steve understands some may feel a senior plate is warranted "as some elderly may find driving a bit more confusing, but labelling them with S plates would be discriminatory and not achieve much. "It would target them to a lot of drivers that would intimidate or even abuse them saying they should not be driving or on the roads. You can see this whenever an elderly driver takes to the road and causes some people to have to slow down to the speed limit."
Here's a few more suggestions: Food delivery drivers could haved a D (dinner) plate; BR - brake rider; MM - music maniac or DD - doof doof, for those whose music trembles the ground 100 metres away; HB - horn-blower; and a personal favourite, W for (rhymes with anchor).
