Halls Head College students recognised both Reconciliation Week and National Day of Healing by holding a special morning tea to honour the school's cultural advisor and local Aboriginal elder, Koodah.
Koodah's role at the college prioritises the wellbeing of students.
He is passionate in his message to have karla (fire) burning in everyone's hearts and is often found in the Cultural Centre or in the Munda Boodja Block taking a moment to have a yarn with students.
Koodah's personal stolen generation experience was the catalyst behind the school honouring him last week, and he explained emotionally that it was great to see the coming together of cross-cultures to share in these experiences.
Students chose to decorate the school's performing arts centre in native purple hibiscus flowers.
Halls Head College's Big Picture Academy students catered for the morning tea using native recipes for lemon mertyl cupcakes, damper and quandong jam.
