The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) has concerns over possible fire weather this weekend ahead of a predicted cold front.

A DFES spokesperson said cold fronts passing through could present unfavourable fire conditions.

"With recent cold weather and rain, many people will not be worried about fire risk," they said.

"However, just one year ago, June 6 was a significantly busy day across the state for fires."

That day was the third busiest day in DFES history, according to a 2018/19 annual report, despite a cold front passing through on the day.

More than 280 emergency incidents were reported - 170 of which were fires, including one at Jarrahwood in the South West.

A cold front is expected over the weekend, presenting unfavourable fire conditions.

No total fire bans have been declared, however, anyone undertaking burn offs are urged to ensure they are completely extinguished before Friday.
