Mandurah SES volunteers were kept busy on Tuesday night as the year's biggest storm ripped a carport roof off a Halls Head home.
A 10-strong crew attended the scene after strong winds sent the carport roof swirling into the home before it eventually landed in a neighbour's fence.
The crew spent roughly three hours on the scene filling sandbags, patching up tiles and securing the sheet of roof that gave way.
Damage was also caused to wooden beams underneath the roof.
Mandurah SES media officer Bec Burns said the storm was the most intense she had seen in her almost five years with the unit.
"Since being with the SES for almost five years, this is the biggest storm I have seen wreak havoc on Mandurah," she said.
"The teams that I have attended call outs with across the past two days along with the operational and communication teams back at base have been fantastic.
"Their work ethic and resilience have been off the scale.
"A big thank you also goes out to the Gosnells and Kalamunda SES units, who assisted us on Wednesday night, with the many call outs that we still had to carry out."
In total the Mandurah SES attended more than 70 call outs relating to the storm.
