The federal government shot down fears of a flu vaccine shortage but two weeks on Peel practices are calling for answers as their supply dwindles.
Already 445,181 Western Australians have received an influenza vaccination, an increase of 62,550 compared to the same period in 2019 and an increase of 166,117 to 2018.
Metceni Health among other Peel practices have experienced a shortage of influenza vaccines for over 65-year-olds as demand grows.
Metceni Health Dr Carolyn Richards said her practice ran out of the flu vaccine last week.
"GP surgeries can't get enough flu vaccines from the WA health department for over 65-year-old patients," she said.
"As far as we know all practices in Mandurah have run out of the vaccine.
"The government is pushing everyone to have it yet we don't have the stock."
To keep up with demand, Metceni Health collected flu vaccines from a practice in Rockingham but according to Dr Richards it wouldn't cover that many people.
Acknowledging a shortage of vaccines at some clinics and pharmacies, Health minister Roger Cook said further supplies were due to arrive soon.
"This year we've seen people take up flu jabs much earlier in the piece and so we are experiencing some very short term delays," he said.
"The commonwealth government has ordered extra supplies which are due to arrive shortly."

Despite Mr Cook addressing the issue of flu vaccine shortages, Dr Richards said the state health department had not been clear with clinics.
"The WA health department haven't told us much," she said.
"As far as they are concerned they have delivered 100 per cent of vaccines but only 49 per cent are registered as received across the state.
"It could be that they've given quite a lot to some of the pharmacies or that more patients are just going to their GPs for the vaccine.
"But we just don't know because they are not giving us enough information. It's just the frustration that GPs are being let down again."
For people who can't get vaccinated straight away because of short supplies, the advice is to book an appointment at your local pharmacy or GP clinic.
