Not many nine-year-olds would be happy to shave their head but Herron resident Ruby Jones was determined as she participated in the World's Greatest Shave last Thursday.
That's because raising funds for the Leukaemia Foundation is a mission close to the heart as she lost her mother, Penni, at only four years old.
"I wanted to shave my head in honour of my mum and other families that have been touched by Leukaemia," Ruby said.
"It's an amazing feeling to have no hair and I do encourage anyone who feels they want to, to do it too."

By going door-to-door to raise money to fight against blood cancer, Ruby has now raised more than $7770 for the Leukaemia Foundation.
Due to her efforts she smashed her fundraising goal of $1000.
Ruby's father Barry Jones is extremely proud of the hard work she put in to raise such a large amount of money for the cause.
"I would pick her up from school at 3pm on Thursdays and walk in the door at 9:20pm for a late dinner together after walking with Ruby as she called in on business after business fundraising," he said.
"This Leukaemia Foundation journey is Ruby's campaign alone as she knew from the start what she wanted to help achieve and in her own words she tells her and her family's story on her Leukaemia Foundation fundraiser page.
"Watching Ruby shave her head to help Australian's and Australian families that she will never know just made me so incredibly proud."
Ruby was also the star of the show at the recent Western Australian Flagship event where she shaved the head of Perth's Hit 92.9 FM's breakfast host, Xavier.
Although Ruby's fundraiser is now over her and Barry are still urging people to get behind the cause that is so close to their hearts.
"I would encourage any family who are considering supporting a cause like the Leukaemia Foundation's World's Great Shave to get on board," Mr Jones said.
