These are truly unprecedented times.
Mandurah, like WA, Australia and the world, is suffering from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, and right now the best we can do is follow the advice of the medical experts, make wise decisions and safely care for one another.
We know this is going to be a time of significant disruption to people's financial situations.
We'll be working with State and Federal Governments to ensure that the needs of our community are being met.
At a local level we are bringing together key support agencies and other community leaders to make sure support is offered where it is needed, in a coordinated and safe way.
Every day I am speaking with businesses that are owned, managed and staffed by local people who are really hurting right now.
Where possible, please continue to support local businesses with any online offerings, or continue to use local suppliers, trades and services. I really admire the initiative of our local businesses over the past few weeks in trying to adapt to this ever-changing situation.
Our lives have, and need to change if we are to get ahead of this. We all need to do some heavy lifting.
Please always practise good hygiene, respect social distancing and avoid unnecessary outings.
Please show kindness and compassion towards each other, help out where you can, be a good neighbour and check in on your friends in a safe and responsible way.
