Peel Zoo closed its doors to visitors on Thursday in a bid to stop the spread of COVID-19 but staff are calling on the public to help keep the animals fed.
With many animals still needing to be looked after, the Pinjarra-based animal zoo has revamped its adoption packages to encourage animal lovers to get involved.
"Quite a number of people have reached out to see how they can help so we thought adoption packages was the best way," zoo keeper Danica said
"We have more than 600 animals to choose from including dingoes, common wombats, tiger quolls, and squirrel gliders.
"We would like to thank everyone for their kind words and well wishes through these hard times."
You can adopt any animal at the Peel Zoo for $40, which includes a personalised adoption certificate.
For four weeks you will also receive weekly updates on your selected animal and weekly activities and challenges centered around your species.
If you return the activities or challenges to keeper Danica, she will compose a video that will be shared on social media so that everyone can enjoy your masterpieces.
The Peel Zoo will also be turning some of the returned activities into a photo book that will be on display in the gift shop when it is able to re-open.
The staff at Peel Zoo will be working hard to continue to care for the animals and perform various maintenance around the zoo during its closure.
