Cruise the Kimberley while Australian boats are still operating

Is this the only cruise company still sailing?

The big ships may have been "paused", but you can still cruise in Australian waters. But you'll have to hurry.

Two Australian-operated companies, True North and Coral Expeditions, sail the pristine Kimberley wilderness in Western Australia. And because their vessels are registered in Australia, they can still call at all the ports.

The government last weekend halted all international cruise ships from docking at Australian ports for 30 days as part of its measures to beat COVID-19.

Adventure boutique ship True North, which only accommodates 36 passengers, plans to continue sailing its 10-night Kimberley Waterfalls itineraries between Broome and Wyndham/Kununurra in March and April. Prices start at $18,995 per person.

"At this juncture, there is no plan to change itinerary or scheduled activity," said a company spokesperson. However, they added: "We are expecting that the recently installed requirement for international arrivals to self-isolate will impact our international bookings."

True North has 16 Kimberley itineraries from now until August 2020. For more information, call (08) 9192 1829 or see
