A man caught travelling more than 60 kilometres over the speed limit in Dudley Park said he was in a rush to get home and take his heart medication.
Daniel Patrick Jones lived in Mandurah at the time and pleaded guilty to driving at 132 km/h on Mandurah Road, a 70 km/h zone, in October last year when he appeared in Northam Magistrates Court on Monday.
He was handed a $1500 fine and had his licence disqualified for six months.
Jones, who has since located to Northam and works in Grass Valley, was interviewed by Northam police on October 20, 2019 where he admitted to the offence that was picked up by a speed camera.
It was his first reckless driving charge, the court heard.
Jones said on the night of offending he hadn't taken necessary heart medication and wanted to get home to take it.
"If I ended up hitting something I guess I wouldn't have needed the medication," he said.
Magistrate Tanya Watt said it was not a good explanation and did not justify his actions.
