The 2020 school year kicked off with a sparkle at Halls Head Primary School (HHPS), with the return of their specialist performing arts program, SHINE.
SHINE is a one-of-a kind program offering students specialised Performing Arts training during school hours.
The program was founded in 2019 and enjoyed huge success, offering free performances to neighbouring schools to help share the love of theatre with the community.
This year will see the program grow to give confidence-building opportunities to more students.
"SHINE was initially designed to extend a select group of outstanding students," program founder and director Sian Wake said.
"However, we want to ensure the reach of the program goes beyond a small group. We want to make it inclusive."

At the end of 2019, Mrs Wake trialled a combined production where SHINE performers joined forces with other HHPS students to stage a spectacular show.
"The production was not only a brilliant opportunity to develop talent, confidence and collaboration skills, but it also raised money to pay for a musical incursion that the whole school will enjoy this term," she said.
"The students' performance has essentially funded Performing Arts extension for not only themselves, but also their peers.
"This means SHINE benefits all students - not just those who perform."
This year SHINE will once again see HHPS offer free performances to neighbouring schools.
