The annual Team Teal campaign returns to Pinjarra on March 2 with $200 to be donated every time a reinswoman drives a winner.
Pinjarra Harness Racing Club and Community TAB have joined forces to raise funds for Team Teal at the annual Pinjarra Pacing Cup.
The Team Teal campaign is a partnership between WomenCan and the Harness Racing industry in Australia and New Zealand, to promote ovarian cancer awareness and research..
Pinjarra Harness Racing Club Manager Sian Hughes said the annual fundraiser was an opportunity to contribute financially to lifesaving research.
"Ovarian cancer is a condition affecting many women and their families across WA," Ms Hughes said.
As part of the campaign, reinswomen across Australia and New Zealand wear teal pants, with sponsors donating each time reinswomen win a race.
Community TAB is the sponsor for the WA campaign, donating $200 each time a race is won by a Team Teal rider, as well as matching funds raised on Cup Day up to $2,00
The Pinjarra Pacing Cup is Pinjarra Harness Racing Club's premier race day including 10 races with the $50,000 Rockingham RAM Pinjarra Pacing Cup, free entertainment for children and live music.
Fundraising on the day will take place through donation tins and fundraising competitions to be drawn on the day. Pinjarra Harness Racing Club will also donate $200 for every race won by a female driver.
