A two-year-old dog has been struck in the face during a home burglary in Redcliffe.
Three men driving a stolen white Nissan Navara ute (stolen two hours earlier in Karawara) forced their way into a house in Epsom Avenue at about 7.20pm on February 15. The men were all wearing balaclavas and one was armed with a sawn-off shotgun.
Inside the property, the man armed with the shotgun struck the Staffy x Bull Arab dog, causing a large cut to its face.
The men stole cash and left the home in the ute. The canopy on the Navara was damaged as it left the scene.
The Navara was found abandoned on Sunday, February 16 in Cohn Street, Carlisle.
The dog has since been operated on and appears likely to recover, police say.
Police say an investigation is underway and believe the incident is isolated with no concerns for broader public safety.
Detectives would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, may have captured images of the men on their phones, dash-cam or home CCTV or has any information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at www.crimestoppers.wa.com.au or call 1800 333 000.
