It's a fairytale favourite we all remember from our childhoods, and now Sleeping Beauty will take to the stage at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre in a beautiful company production by Moscow Ballet La Classique.
After sell-out performances of The Nutcracker in 2018, the world-renowned ballet company is rehearsing for their latest show - a much-loved story for the whole family to enjoy.
The tale as old as time will be brought to life with artistic ballet mystery, lavish costumes and magnificent sets as dancers journey into the world of Princess Aurora.
With Tchaikovsky's popular score as the musical backdrop, the stage spectacle will capture the imagination, passion and magic of Sleeping Beauty.
In an interview with the Mandurah Mail, chief administrator and choreographer Andrey Lyapin said the show would entertain audiences of all ages.
"It's a beautiful performance with decorations, costumes and many dancers involved - beautiful principal dancers and winners of international competition," he said.
"This particular performance is very good for small kids and and first time ballet watchers. Usually people bring the whole family to watch this kind of show.
"It's one of the best known performances because it's Tchaikovsky's music and it's not as dramatic a story as Swan Lake, so it's a good chance to introduce new people or small kids to classical ballet."
Lyapin, who has been a leading soloist dancer in the Moscow Ballet La Classique in productions of Coppellia, Giselle and Romeo and Juliet, has thrilled ballet lovers all over the world throughout his career.
Lyapin said he loved "everything" about ballet, and couldn't wait to bring another breathtaking performance to Australia and New Zealand.
"Ballet makes everything good - it's good for your soul, your body," he said.
"I think I'm very lucky I got to be a principal dancer. I got to travel around the world to a new country or city every day and every place is so different.
"I have been to Australia and New Zealand, but it was many years ago. I'm excited to come back because I remember very clearly that it was so interesting - very beautiful nature, warm weather, good people."
Sleeping Beauty will take to the stage at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre on March 14. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit the MPAC website.
