Get off your phone
We were driving down Peel Street slowly and suddenly a woman emerged from our left pushing a twin stroller with children. Just before it lurched off the curb, the woman turned it around. My husband had braked and fortunately was going slowly anyway but we were shocked to see the reason she nearly threw her children under the car was because this woman was on her mobile phone. No doubt if any motorist had hit the stroller, they would have been blamed, not the woman.

Books needed
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Save the Children Bushfire Appeal. The worst of the crisis is hopefully over, but for many the suffering has just begun.
Save the Children has set up child friendly spaces supporting hundreds of children in evacuation and recovery centres, allowing them to be kids again at a time when they often feel overwhelmed, scared and distressed. When people start to return to their communities, their need for support does not end. We play a vital role in helping these families.
Please consider donating any unwanted children's books to the Save the Children Bookshop in the Smart Street Mall Arcade. We are volunteers selling second-hand books at bargain prices, with all proceeds going to children in need.

Where is the equipment?
The Falcon bay upgrades are finally complete and look great, But what's with the children's sandpit. Surely there is more equipment to be installed than the small swing set that's there? Compared to what is at Novara boat ramp, it looks quite pathetic.

Dog laws a double up
The only people the new dog laws will affect are the members of Dogswest, who are already regulated. We will now have to pay twice. This is not going to stop puppy farming. The government is putting this back onto local council to police. They will not have the money or time to do what is needed.
