Murray is fortunate to have a significant number of community groups and associations who work tirelessly, weaving a more intricate pattern in the district's rich tapestry.
From youth to seniors, Coolup to North Dandalup, Dwellingup to Barragup, these groups enrich the lives of residents and visitors across a plethora of interests.
As proud advocates of their suburbs, progress and community associations and community compacts and groups bring residents together through events, initiatives and projects which contribute to the development of their communities.
The user groups at Edenvale Homestead conserve and promote Murray's distinctive rural history and lifestyle.
The contributions of the passionate members of Murray Arts and Crafts, Liveringa Art Gallery, Murray Districts Historical Society, Pinjarra Patchwork and Quilters Club and Roger May Machinery Museum inject vibrancy and life into the precinct.
An extended visit to the tranquil grounds exploring the exhibits and displays and chatting to group members is always a welcome cultural immersion.
Situated within Pinjarra's heritage rail precinct, the Pinjarra Community Men's Shed, officially opened by its members in November last year, bolsters mateship and inclusion and fosters the health and well-being of residents.
Also situated within the Rail Precinct is the Pinjarra Community Garden. Since its inception over eight years ago the community asset has continued to flourish through the hard work of a number of volunteers.
The garden brings people together to connect with the environment, promotes sustainable living practices, embraces education as one of its main objectives and is an inclusive community place which ingrains the core principle of giving to the environment in order to take.
Hotham Valley Tourist Railway volunteers maintain and operate an important part of Western Australia's history and are helping to drive the growth of the district's tourism.
I would also like to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of Dwellingup Teenz, our sporting clubs, groups and associations and place-making groups Pinjarra Connect and Dwellingup Creative.
I thank them for their dedication and commitment.
The array of opportunities available for community members is a testament to their unwavering efforts.
I encourage community members from within the district, our neighbouring local governments and beyond, to get out, get involved and get active to be invigorated by the vibrancy of Murray.
