A win over Albany in round two saw the Peel Cricket Association bounce back from a loss to Bunbury in their Senior Country Week opener on Monday.
Led by a stunning bowling performance from Ben Wright and some superb batting from young star Teague Wyllie, the PCA was able to defend a mere 116 runs in the victory.
Taking a win looked an extremely unlikely scenario when Peel lost both of their opening batsmen without posting a run, however.
Both Wright and Josh Smith were gone for ducks in the opening overs, leaving Peel sweating it out at 2/0.
Luckily Wyllie was able to put the squad back on firm ground, with a slow yet sure 35 runs giving the side their biggest contribution.
That score came off 118 deliveries, with the youngster staying the course and protecting his wicket.
Alex Roberts (19), Keren Ugle (16) and Mitchell Zadow (15) also pitched in, with Peel able to see out their 60 overs for a score of 9/116.
The efficient Albany bowling attack was spearheaded by Hayden Davies, who collected 5/20 from 13 overs, bowling six maidens in the process.
But Wright proved even more efficient in response, as he put forth an astounding performance to lead Peel to their first win of the campaign.
The Waroona star bowled 21 overs, with eight going for maidens on his way to 5/26 figures.
Much the same as Peel, Albany also lost two batsmen before putting a run on the board, with Ben Attrill and Coen Marwick both falling victim to Wright.
They were buoyed in their chase by 27 runs from Jack Dawson, but were eventually all out 13 shy of the target with Mitch Brown claiming the final wicket to see them all out for 103.
The match played out quite the opposite to Peel's opening clash with Bunbury, which saw both sides post high totals.
Bunbury got the better of Peel on that occasion thanks in large to a John Richardson century.
Daniel Jones (70) and Dan Abel (49) did what they could to will Peel back into the contest, but the side eventually fell on 224, some 46 runs shy of the required total.
The victory over Albany kept Peel's hopes of a Country Week win alive, however, with a win over Geraldton in their next game now crucial to their chances.
