A Mandurah small business owner, who lost more than $5000 after one of his stores was burgled this week, says he believes the region's crime "is getting worse and worse".
Major Vapour and Major Mods owners Wayne and Jodie Hawkins said their store on Dolphin Drive was broken into by an offender wearing a mask and gloves just before 5am on Thursday morning.
Mr Hawkins said the incident, some of which was caught on camera, shows the offender attempting to break in for almost half an hour.
"He tried to jimmy it with a screwdriver or something first but it was taking ages because it's security glass," he said.
"Then he picked up a limestone rock and threw that at a couple of the windows thinking that would break it, but all it did was leave a bit of dust.
"He even backs up at one stage to do a bit of a run up before he eventually smashes the window."
Mrs Hawkins said the offender took all of the stock in the Major Mods store.
"He stole the whole shop - even my [music] speaker," she said.
"It was around $5000 worth of products, plus the float and the cost of the damage to the store.
"He stole at least 20 devices but none of the tanks, so he only has half of the products."
The stores, which were opened in 2017 and are located next door to one another, have been broken into twice in the last year.
Mr Hawkins said it was "disappointing".
"I think the crime rate in Mandurah is getting worse and worse," he said.
"I think it's really sad because it is so beautiful here, and we still believe [crime] is such a small part of it," Mrs Hawkins added.
"Hopefully someone out there may know who did this."
Mandurah police confirmed the forensic team had attended the store on Thursday morning to conduct tests.
Investigations are still ongoing.
