Two local retired police officers, from Pinjarra and Meadow Springs, have been recognised for their service by WA's top cop at a recent ceremony.
Pinjarra resident and retired Senior Sergeant Dave Bryan and Meadow Springs resident and Senior Sergeant Scott McCormick, were presented with honourable discharge certificates at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre on December 3, along with several South West police officers.
Senior Sergeant Bryan, who was medically retired after 31 years service, was also awarded the Police Star Medal, presented to officers who were either killed or seriously injured whilst carrying out their duties.
Senior Sergeant McCormick was medically retired with injuries after 29 years of service.
WA Police Commissioner Chris Dawson said the medal acknowledged the "unique" and "unpredictable" dangers of policing.
"The service they have provided to the community of Western Australia and the sacrifices they have made, exhibit the highest standards of selflessness and commitment," he said.
The presentation was followed by morning tea.
