A pair of Mandurah-based sporting bodies are set to benefit from the latest round of the state government's Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF).
Both the Dudley Park Bowling Club and City of Mandurah have been granted new funding for projects under the scheme, making them two of 16 total sporting groups recognised across regional WA.
The bowling club is set to upgrade lighting at its facility after being awarded $11,500, while the City was granted a whopping $50,000 to go towards the upgrades happening at Falcon Oval.
The South Mandurah Football and Netball Club stand to benefit greatly from the Falcon project, with upgrades being made to the toilets and change room facilities at their home ground.
The CSRFF provides sport and recreation clubs and local governments with funding support to help develop grassroots projects - providing communities around the state with places to play sport and recreate.
Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray cited the importance of improving the state's local sports projects, particularly in regional areas.
"Country WA is the big winner in this round of the CSRFF small grants program, with 75 per cent of funded projects based in regional areas," he said.
"With everything from swimming pool improvements to sports courts and BMX track upgrades, there is a wide spread of sport and recreation activities being supported this round.
"The CSRFF enables grassroots clubs and local governments to build quality local sporting infrastructure, helping WA communities stay connected and mentally and physically healthy."
