A Singleton family are spreading the joy of Christmas in a fun and unique way with their Facebook page, Pop on the shelf.
The concept takes inspiration from the much-loved Elf on the Shelf tradition - a fairly new parenting game for the holidays that sees Santa's little Elf helper assume a new position in the house every night in the leadup to Christmas.
Except, with a twist to make you laugh, Elf has been subbed in by grandpa.
Cara Booth, whose dad takes to new and exciting places every day as Santa's right hand man, said she was in fits of laughter bringing it to life and wanted to share that joy online.
"This year, my kids were too old for Elf on the Shelf so my dad became Pop on the shelf," she said.
"We wanted a new way to bring the fun of Christmas back.
"He was an absolute legend for letting me do this to him."
Her dad, who lives with the Booth family in Singleton when he and his wife aren't travelling around Australia, has already got up to a bit of fun around the home in just nine days.
He has made snow angels, played Twister and taken some time out for a nap and some self love.
"I just thought that, with all the madness in this world, we could do with a funny and cheerful Christmas post to brighten everyone's day," Ms Booth said.
There will be a daily dose of laughter in a post each day until December 24. To follow along with the fun, visit the Pop on the shelf Facebook page.
