The community of Waroona is set to benefit from the opening of the Quambie Park Housing Options Village, built with the assistance of $1,674,940 from the federal government and officially opened this week.
Canning MP Andrew Hastie said the expansion meant more people in the Peel region would be able to live out their retirement years close to their local community.
The village adds nine new purpose built accommodation units to Quambie Park's services, as well as communal spaces and two offices for visiting health and support professionals.
"Growing old in rural Australia shouldn't have to mean moving a long way from home," Mr Hastie said.
"This expansion will mean more people can stay connected to their local community while still receiving the care and assistance they need.
"It's just one example of how the Morrison government is investing in essential services for the Peel region."
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack said the government's investment in community infrastructure would provide long-term benefits to the Peel region.
"In addition to the many social benefits, this investment will also produce long-term economic benefits to the region through the delivering of health cost-savings of $30,721 per annum and efficiencies from co-locating housing and support services," he said.
"By supporting 15 jobs in construction and creating an expected 10 ongoing jobs after completion, in addition to using local businesses and supplies, this project will help bring economic prosperity to Waroona for many years to come."
This project received $1,674,940 in funding under the Building Better Regions Fund.
Other facilities to benefit in the Peel Region include the Preston Beach Community Hall, Bedingfeld Park aged care expansion in Pinjarra, and develop the Dwellingup Adventure Trails tourism initiative.
