Singleton captain Tim Hutchison led the charge as his Irwinians recorded a victory in their first Peel Premier League game of the season when they ousted Pinjarra at Peelwood Reserve on Tuesday night.
The skipper's half century was the driving force as his side chased down the Tigers' total, turning the tide on each club's recent 50-over form to ensure their Twenty20 campaign was off to a winning start.
Heading in to bat first Josh Smith appeared to have Pinjarra in good stead.
The opener blasted out 29 runs from 22 deliveries before Andrew Peckover had him leg-before-wicket, but Pinjarra still looked to be tracking okay even with the loss of Jamie Lee leaving them at 2/57.
But the wickets fell in a hurry after that, with Daniel Jones (3/17) and Josh Prosser (2/7) snaring opportunities for Singleton.
Alex Roberts (17) and Mitchell Zadow (13) were the only remaining batsman to move past single figure totals, with the Tigers batting out their overs for a score of 8/104.
That miserly total looked defendable when Pinjarra bowler Matthew Gordon struck early, however, as he nabbed the wicket of Danny Woollard to leave the Irwinians floundering at 1/5.
When Bryce Evans (11) and Liam Kerr (7) were ousted not long after, the Tigers looked to have a real shot.
But Hutchison mustered a fine knock to quash any hopes they had of defending their 104, finding the boundary rope six times as he notched a half century with 52 runs from 48 deliveries.
His efforts paved the way for Singleton to surpass Pinjarra in the 19th over, taking the round one win.
The Peel Premier League action continues next Tuesday, November 19 with Halls Head taking on White Knights Baldivis at Peelwood Reserve.
