A Dudley Park resident has warned residents to keep an eye out after coming across a fishing wire trap whilst cycling on Friday morning.
Rhonda Archer was cycling her bicycle on Hudson Drive opposite Creery Reserve at about 7.30am when she noticed something wasn't right.
"I was riding my pushbike and felt resistance - I pushed a little harder and realised I had been snagged," she said.
"I kept going until it broke, initially I just thought it was a piece of string.
"It was wrapped around my brakes, around the wheels, pedals, everything.
"Whoever did it hooked it from a tree, across the street to a garden and back across to the bushes and across the path.
"It is so strong - it took me a lot to make it break."
Ms Archer said she walked in the area regularly and the authorities were unable to help her when she reported the incident.
"I don't know why people would do this, but it is just dangerous," she said.
"There are a lot of elderly people in the area - my friend, she is blind and goes walking through there with her dog.
"What gets in people's heads to do something like that?"
